Egypt promises an unforgettable experience of history and relaxation - a mixture of discovery and pleasure. The two main holiday resorts in Egypt are both on the Red Sea and are Hurghada and the more well known resort of Sharm El Sheikh. Both resorts offer a wide selection of holiday hotels offering board levels from bed & breakfast through to all inclusive. There isn't the self catering option in Egypt.

Flight time from UK: Between 5 & 5.5 hours

Visa Requirements: On entry into Egypt, you must obtain a visitors visa at the airport of entry, the fee is £10 (subject to change). Sharm El Sheikh is considered a free zone, due to being located in the Sinai Peninsula. For travel on excursions outside the Sinai peninsula, the visitor’s visa is a requirement.

Currency: The unit of currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP), which is divided into 100 piastres. Most credit cards are accepted in major hotels and restaurants. Visitors are advised to take travellers cheques in GBP Pounds to avoid additional exchange rate charges or to withdraw funds from the ATM's.

Time: Local time is GMT +2 (GMT +3 from last Friday in April to last Friday in September).

Language: Arabic is the official language although English and French are widely spoken, especially in the tourist areas.

Electricity: Electrical current is 220 volts, 50Hz. European-style two-pin plugs are standard.

What's usually included in an AI holiday

There are four levels of inclusions that cover the food and drink element of the accommodation package. These are Light - Standard/Bronze - Classic/Silver and Gold/Premier. The standard programme will include three meals a day, national spirits, beer, wine, and other non-alcoholic beverages. The Standard meal plan will also include snacks that are offered at various times during the day; specific times for both snacks and beverages can be checked in the hotels details and description section.
