 Bulgaria is an ideal destination for combining sightseeing with beach life. This country of great contrast has been kept a secret for too long and offers high and low mountains, valleys and gorges and miles and miles of sunny, sandy coastline, ideal for children. Exquisite monasteries still amaze visitors with their magnificent architecture, unfading frescoes and woodcarvings. Aladja monastery, close to the city of Varna, is preserved in a sheer rock face. Differently coloured frescos are still discernible. Bulgaria offers many great spa resorts along the coast owing to the specific sea climate combined with curative mineral springs and mud. Many visitors take time to enjoy these spas for therapeutic and relaxation purposes; for some it's simply a good excuse for an extra special treat.
